CBC Vancouver opens doors for Food Bank Day

(CBC) – The CBC/Radio-Canada Broadcast Centre in downtown Vancouver has opened its doors to the public as part of the annual Food Bank Day. The Open House event is scheduled to run from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.

The public will be able to tour the new CBC building, watch the newsroom in action, meet radio, television and online hosts and reporters, quiz technical staff, watch live broadcasts of radio and television shows, and enjoy live music throughout the day.

Other highlights include screenings from the media archives, displays of vintage broadcast gear and tours of the CBC microwave truck used for live broadcasts from remote locations.

Concerts planned for the day include performances by jazz-samba band Mimosa, rock band You Say Party! We Say Die! and country music star Aaron Pritchett.

The CBC Radio 3 team will also be welcoming the public in a new Audience Lounge and launching a redesigned website.
