ABORTIST UPDATE: PaperMonster (New Jersey, USA)
October 4th, 2007 Filed under: ABORTIST: Rank & File, Exclusive!, News/Calendar/Industry by adminWhen I started stenciling, I needed someone who could help teach me about art. I stepped into my university’s art building to speak with the chair of the department. He said no one in the department was available for me since I was a Biology and not an Art Major, but he said I could work for the department by making flyers for events. I rejected to job and began teaching myself everything I know. I visited Blek le Rat in Paris and it was exactly what I needed. Motivation to go against people who appose you or try to brush you off. Years later, I had a gallery show and the same chair of the department recognized my face. He asked if I was the young kid who came for help a couple years back. I told him I was and how grateful I was for the time he didn’t give me. You learn the hard way from these types of experiences. When people don’t want to give you opportunities, STEAL THEM? -PaperMonster
