(Maybe while he has time to think, he can look for a new hairstylist – Ed)

(MSNBC) -Charlie Sheen has entered rehab and is taking a break from television’s top-rated comedy, “Two and a Half Men,” his publicist said Tuesday.

“As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility,” publicist Stan Rosenfield wrote in a four-sentence statement that did not specify why Sheen, 44, was seeking treatment. The statement sought privacy for the embattled actor.

The move comes roughly two months after Sheen was arrested after a fight with his wife at his Aspen, Colo., home. Prosecutors later charged the actor with felony menacing and misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and criminal mischief. The most serious charge carries a maximum three-year prison term.

Sheen’s wife, Brooke, is also in rehab seeking treatment for an undisclosed reason, her attorney Yale Galanter said Monday. She is still asking that the charges be dismissed, he said.

(Houston Chronicle) -Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds is seeking treatment in a rehabilitation facility for alleged addictions to prescription drugs and alcohol after an accident at his Florida home last month sparked fears for his mental state.

According to the National Enquirer, the veteran star, 73, was admitted to hospital on Aug. 21 after he was found semi-conscious and covered in blood following a fall at his waterfront mansion in Hobe Sound.

A source told the tabloid, “The houseman found Burt lying in a pool of blood. He’d fallen and was badly cut. The houseman drove him to the hospital. But this time, Burt was behaving strangely, and doctors were so concerned about his state of mind that they sent him to the county mental health facility in West Palm Beach.”
The Smokey and the Bandit actor then agreed to check straight into rehab after medics refused to discharge him unless he sought professional help for his alleged addictions at the nearby Hanley Center.

Vancouver pot activist Marc Emery to plead guilty to U.S. drug charge

June 4th, 2009 Filed under: Filling Up The Pisstank™, Made In Canada, News/Calendar/Industry by Editor in Chief

(Source – CBC)

Marijuana activist Marc Emery says he plans to drop his fight against extradition to the U.S. and plead guilty to one charge of drug distribution in a Seattle courtroom next month.

Emery’s extradition hearing in Vancouver was adjourned on Wednesday so his lawyer could negotiate a deal with the U.S. district attorney in which Emery could spend up to eight years in jail for one charge, while two other more serious charges are dropped, he said.

“I will be making a guilty plea to one count of marijuana distribution this summer, and then when I’m sentenced the U.S. district attorney is going to be asking for five to eight years in a federal U.S. penitentiary,” he told CBC News on Wednesday.

After the guilty plea, Emery expects he will be sentenced in August or September and is hoping he will eventually be transferred to a Canadian jail.

Police said Monday they confiscated about $1.2 million in illegal drugs and more than $68,000 in cash from concertgoers. Authorities also arrested 194 Phish fans during the three-night celebration of the band’s return to the stage after a nearly five-year absence.

Coolio spots something white and hard

(Source – Reuters)

Grammy-winning rapper Coolio was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday on suspicion of possessing drugs, police said.

The 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Artis Levon Ivey Jr, was taken into custody at an LAX terminal at mid-morning after he was found with the narcotics, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said she had no further details on the arrest but celebrity website TMZ reported that he was found with crack cocaine while going through security before boarding a Southwest Airlines flight.

Coolio first gained fame in 1995 with the hit single “Gangsta’s Paradise” and multi-million selling album of the same name. His follow-up albums have failed to match that success.

The rapper has since appeared on several reality TV shows, including “Celebrity Fear Factor,” and hosted the online program “Cookin With Coolio.”

Lead singer quits Barenaked Ladies after drug bust

February 25th, 2009 Filed under: Filling Up The Pisstank™, News/Calendar/Industry by Editor in Chief

(Reuters) – The lead singer of popular Canadian band the Barenaked Ladies, who was charged with drugs offenses in the United States last year, is leaving to pursue a solo career, the group said on Wednesday.

Steven Page, 38, was arrested in July 2008 and charged with drug possession after police found the singer with cocaine at an upstate New York apartment. In October, the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor.

“By mutual agreement, Steven Page will be parting company with the remaining members of Barenaked Ladies,” the band said on its Web site, saying Page would be pursuing solo projects.

The five-man group was best known for hit songs such as “One Week”, “Pinch Me” and “If I Had a Million Dollars” and received two Grammy nominations. The remaining members of the band plan to stay together.

“These guys are my brothers. We’ve grown up together over the past twenty years. I love them and wish them all the best in the future,” the statement quoted Page as saying. It did not mention the drug bust.

F.U.T.P.T. – Phelps Gets Phucked Up

February 1st, 2009 Filed under: Filling Up The Pisstank™, News/Calendar/Industry by Editor in Chief

“Hey Mikey…he likes it!”

(Photo NOTW | Words -Star)

Michael Phelps is America’s Golden Boy, but his recent partying has been less than medal-worthy.

The 23-year-old Olympic champion, who has won a record 14 gold medals for swimming, spent a long weekend smoking weed and chugging booze like a college frat boy.

And Star has the startling picture to prove that Michael — who has spent the months since his triumphs in Beijing living it up — is no stranger to marijuana!

“Michael came to town like a bull in a China shop,” a source who spent time with Phelps in Columbia, S.C. tells Star. “He was partying out of control from the moment he got here to the moment he left.”

In town to visit a University of South Carolina sorority girl he was seeing, Michael instead “ended up just getting wasted every night,” says the source.

At a keg party on Nov. 6, the witness describes Michael as “loud and obnoxious and slamming beers from the get-go. He was definitely the life of the party as every girl wanted a piece of him and every guy wanted to be his best buddy. He was eating it up.

“At one point someone asked him if he wanted to smoke some weed. Michael didn’t hesitate and headed to a small back room, where he was immediately handed a big red bong. He grabbed the bong and a lighter and ripped a huge smelly bong rip.”

“Hide Your Weed…You’re Being Googled!”: Swiss Police Using Google Earth Spot Crops

January 29th, 2009 Filed under: Filling Up The Pisstank™, News/Calendar/Industry by Editor in Chief

(Source – AP)

Swiss police said Thursday they stumbled across a large marijuana plantation while using Google Earth, the search engine company’s satellite mapping software.

Police said the find was part of a bigger investigation that led to the arrest of 16 people and seizure of 1.2 tons (1.1 metric tons) of marijuana as well as cash and valuables worth 900,000 Swiss francs ($780,000).

Officers discovered the hemp field in the northeastern canton (state) of Thurgau last year while investigating an alleged drug ring, said the head of Zurich police’s specialist narcotics unit Norbert Klossner.

The plantation, measuring almost two acres (7,500 square meters), was hidden inside a field of corn. But officers using Google Earth to locate the address of two farmers suspected of involvement in the drug operation quickly spotted the illegal crop.

“It was an interesting chance discovery,” said Klossner.

Prosecutor Gabi Alkalay told reporters in Zurich that she plans to complete her criminal investigation in February, after which she will formally charge the 16 suspects and ask for prison sentences for all of them.

The gang is alleged to have sold up to 7 tons (7.7 US tons) of hashish and marijuana between 2004 and 2008, with an annual turnover of 3-10 million francs a year, officials said.

High-risk riches for Mexico’s “narco wives”

January 27th, 2009 Filed under: Filling Up The Pisstank™, News/Calendar/Industry by Editor in Chief

(By Catherine Bremer|Reuters)

CULIACAN, Mexico (Reuters) – Teenage girls in northwest Mexico are dazzled by the glamorous “narco wives” who laze in beauty salons, draped in designer gear, getting Swarovski crystals glued onto their fingernails.

Each year, dozens compete in beauty pageants in the sun-baked hills of Sinaloa state where their legendary good looks draw wealthy drug traffickers who will sometimes pluck one out and spirit her off to a mountain hide-out.

Career prospects are few for Sinaloan girls, and landing a prominent drug trafficker means entering a world of untold riches — luxury mansions, SUVs, endless spa sessions and a closet full of the priciest labels on the planet.

The dangers of getting sucked into the gangland world have jumped, however, as an army crackdown by President Felipe Calderon has sparked new turf wars and hitmen ignore old codes against slaying their enemies’ wives, girlfriends or children.
