(USA Today) – MAD Magazine continues to push the limits of appropriateness. With their annual ‘MAD 20′ issue just released, an annual list of what editors deem the dumbest events and individuals of the year, the magazine places a spotlight on some of the most controversial issues and figures of 2009.
MAD editor John Ficarra took a few moments to discuss the 2009 standout moments of stupidity with USA TODAY.
Q:MAD Magazine’s ‘MAD 20′ list came out this week. What’s the reaction been like thus far to the list?
A: Reaction to the ‘MAD 20′ has been overwhelmingly positive, except from those who are actually on the list, who have remained silent. We’d love to hear from some celebrities we spoofed but have pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that we won’t be hearing from any of them, especially Michael Jackson.
Q: Was 2009 a good year for ‘MAD 20′ list content? How would 2009 compare to past years?
A: 2009 started out tough. With George Bush gone, we were at an immediate disadvantage. On the other hand, 2008 didn’t have the Octomom, Blaggo and Glenn Beck. So, all in all, dumbness prevailed.
