‘Brady Bunch’ reunion nixed over old hints of lesbian affair between Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb

March 1st, 2010 Filed under: News/Calendar/Industry by Editor in Chief

(NY Daily News) – The longstanding feud between Maureen McCormick, who played oldest sister Marcia on “The Brady Bunch,” and Eve Plumb, who played middle sister Jan, is to blame for the cancellation of a Brady Bunch reunion appearance, RadarOnline.com  reports.

The Brady kids were set to appear on a network morning show this Wednesday, but bad blood between McCormick and Plumb led to the interview being called off.

“The problems between them go back decades,” a source who knows both actresses told Radar. “They’ve never liked each other . . . the bottom line is that they didn’t want to be on the same show and the appearance was canceled because of it.”

Part of the tension stems from wording in McCormick’s autobiography, “Here’s the Story,” that – according to Plumb and others – insinuates that the two had a lesbian relationship.

In a 2008 interview on the “Today” show, McCormick said the offending remark, in which she said she had kissed Plumb, had been taken out of context by both Plumb and by media outlets, which blew it out of proportion.

McCormick explained that she kisses all her friends and co-workers, male and female, out of affection.

Plumb feels McCormick’s initial words were purposefully misleading because she wanted to sell books.
